Our History
Milt Chortkoff had “cleaning solutions” in his blood!
More than 70 years ago Milt started working at Hollyway Laundry & Dry Cleaners, his father’s business in Echo Park. He came out of retirement in 1988 to consult with the owners of Regal Cleaners in Burbank and eventually purchased the business, renaming it Milt & Edie’s, a loving tribute to his wife of more than 60 years. Some pronounce it Eddie's, but as Milt would say, it's pronounced Eeeeedie's. With a spotless career running one of the most innovative, customer-service-based cleaning businesses in Los Angeles, Milt’s crowning achievement has been to make Milt & Edie’s Drycleaners & Tailoring Center a 365 days per year operation!
What Makes Us Unique?
Milt & Edie’s is located in the heart of Burbank’s Media District, where we do things a little bit differently.
Walking into the cleaners with its bold magenta awnings, customers are immediately greeted by the aroma of freshly-popped popcorn (available all day and night) and a smiling maître d’ who directs them to one of nine counters. With every employee on call, there is virtually instant service, thereby nearly eliminating waiting in line. For the moments spent at Milt & Edie’s, customers are treated to music videos, free candy, and complimentary refreshments served throughout the day, including a wide assortment of beverages, cookies, snacks, and even hot dogs on Friday and Saturday afternoons. For anyone needing tailoring services, Milt & Edie’s is THE place to go as tailors are always available to provide expert alterations!
Founder’s Family Continuing the Tradition!
Milt & Edie’s Drycleaners is now run by the founder’s son-in-law and daughter, Michael and Beth Shader. Michael states, “We will continue to provide the experience and expertise customers, and entertainment industry studio clients expect when it comes to the care of their clothes, costumes and other textiles. They expect excellence and that’s what we’re all about.” Milt & Edie’s chooses to continue providing excellence as the gold standard and has found this to be of immense value to customers.

They are the best in the business, and have taken the cleaning and drying cleaning to new levels. I stop in once a week for some cleaning service or to drop off concert tickets for their customers gift bags. Yes you heard that right. New first time customers get a gift bag. You also can have a coffee, cookies, and popcorn while waiting. Very good popcorn. Very well run business.

Best dry cleaner on earth! Amazing service and quality that simply can’t be beat. To top it off they have free parking, free popcorn, cookies, and coffee. They also have a tailoring service. I haven’t tried it yet, but the customers that use it seem to be happy!

I would recommend Milt & Edie’s. It was my first experience using their dry cleaning and I was impressed. The customer service is great; I was given a sweet welcome bag, and signing up as a new customer was easy! I had three wool coats cleaned and they had them ready that evening! I even received a text with information for pickup! The prices were reasonable and my coats look great, very clean. You can’t beat their hours!

I needed a uniform dry cleaned and tailored on a Friday and ready on Sunday. No other dry cleaner would take on the task of dry cleaning alone within that timeframe. Enter Milt & Edie’s, they got the job done and done well and on time. It was a bit pricey ($100+) but again, they did what other Dry Cleaners wouldn’t. They were wonderful and quick! I had a comforter & jacket for dry cleaning. The service was very personable and they even presented me with a welcome gift! There was an espresso machine and popcorn! It was so nice and sweet of them to do. I would come back for sure simply based off the attention to detail in branding and their glorious customer service.

My tailor was amazing! He was very kind and professional. The ambiance of the place is very fun and old school 50 vibes. My only issue was the tailoring cost more than my clothes itself. I bought a pair of scrubs for $25 and my tailoring cost over 100$. I would have like to have known this before hand and not have wasted the tailors time. I still paid it but it was way out of my price range.

I took my pants to Milt & Eddie’s, who took the time to explain what need to be done to get as close to what I wanted. The tailors seemed a. It overwhelmed but i get it. These guys are the best. They were able to alter several (expensive!) sport jackets that were stuck in my closet because they were simply too big-shouldered for contemporary wearing. I was about to send them off to goodwill but figured I'd ask the tailor at Milt & Edie's first. Now they look and fit great. It was like finding several thousand dollars worth of new and stylish wardrobe at a fraction of the cost.

The only place able to do an alteration within the 48 hours that I needed it done, and they did a beautiful job, exactly how I wanted. Fast, efficient, skilled, and friendly. Being open 24/7 helps too! And when all was done, totally reasonable cost! There are closer places but I will happily go out of my way any time I need something cleaned or altered FNO. Service was/is GREAT !! Claudia assisted me on my first visit. She was very attentive, and friendly, and had a GREAT personality ( she's also very attractive.. 🔥🔥🔥 ). Had a suit jacket and slacks dry cleaned.. wasn't thrilled with the fee !!! But the suit was done right, and the mild starch I requested was perfect !! I'll continue to bring my dry cleaning there, as it gives me a good reason to see Claudia again...TRUTH .. 😆

Great dry cleaning! My leather jacket REALLY needed it. It came back clean and fresh, and also re-dyed! They send it to a leather person and don’t do leather in-house, so I don’t know who to thank (or to tell the red was slightly off, but only I can tell that, really). They did an EXCELLENT job!

I had my dress alteration for a wedding. Rose is the alteration person. She is the best. I loved how my dress came out. I got a lot of compliment on my dress. She got it done on time less than 2 days picked up. and the best part is this place open 24 hours. It was my first time walking into this business. It was quite an experience! I enjoyed the great customer service, the alterations guy was friendly and followed directions great, they serve popcorn and cookies which was cute and delicious! The store is small and intimate, which felt “homey” to me. I don’t get much alterations/dry cleaning done, but I would definitely come back for future services. 10 out of 10 I highly recommend Milt & Edie’s Drycleanings!!
